School Targets U-13 Nestle-Milo Soccer Trophy

to the 3rd Nestle-Milo U-13 Pan- African Football Championship, St Barnabas LGEA Primary School A, Ilorin, Kwara State, on Friday expressed confidence of winning the competition.
The coach of St Barnabas, Doyin Oyeseyi, told newsmen in Lagos that the team was ready to do well because of the quality of its players.
“We are happy to be the school representing Nigeria in the competition.
“We have worked very hard to get to this stage having defeated all opposition that we played, and in most cases, we came from behind to win our matches.
“My players are a very skillful team, they are disciplined and they are well behaved. We will surely deliver the cup,’’ Oyeseyi said.
He added that since qualifying for the championship, the children’s parents and many well wishers in Ilorin had been very supportive, hence they will not disappoint.
St Barnabas had won the Milo sponsored U-13 National School Sports Festival held in November 2013.
The organisers, Nestle Nigeria Plc, had through their Category Manager, Doja Ekeruche, said that the team would undergo intensive two weeks football training with football experts.
“They will be trained for two weeks at the Kwara International Football Academy where they will be monitored by ex-internationals, Emmanuel Amunike and Peter Rufai.
“They will also undergo a four day training at the International Sports Academy, Wasinmi, run by another ex-international, Segun Odegbami,’’ Ekeruche said.
The competition, holding from May 29 to 31 in Lagos would have South-Africa (2010 hosts), defending champions Ghana and Kenya representing the Eastern Africa pride.
