RSG Launches New Digital Concept …Links Hub To PH, Elele, Ndele

The Rivers State Govern
ment has launched “Badiliko” Digital Hub in a bid to strengthen the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development of the state.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mr. George Feyii, who officially commissioned the project in Port Harcourt last Wednesday, said it was about time Rivers dwellers take advantage of the e-learning system in the state.
Feyii, who spoke through the Commissioner for Social  Welfare and Rehabilitation, Hon. Joe Poroma, described the Badiliko project as a new concept, thus, the need to make optimum of the development.
He assured of the state’s readines to partner the company (Badiliko), on other projects, saying that the state government would  continue to strive for e-learning  development in the state.
The Tide, gathered that the state now has three Hubs as a result of the “Badiliko” project, one at Elele in Ikwerre Local Government Area, another at Ndele in Emohua Local Government Area, while the other is sited at the ICT centre on Port Harcourt –Aba Express way.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on ICT, Engr Goodlife Nmekini, said that the “Badiliko” concept has only come to compliment the on-going  e-system in the state.
Nmekini enumerated how far  the state has gone in digital  development, adding that it has simplified  governance.
According to him, the new system, has no cost implication, but is open to the members of the public, especially government owned secondary schools and others.
He also gave centralisation of the whole content developed in the state as part of the reasons to embrace the Badiliko concept.
Concerning  a similar project,“Rivcloud” launched  in the past, he said it is alive and serving the purpose for which it was built.
Our reporter, further gathered that, “Badiliko” is a Swahili word meaning change or new development.
British Council, Microsoft and other  groups sent their representatives, while the Team Leader of Rivers ICT Department, Ruby Minimah, and crew were on hand to ensure success of the event.
