Phone Users Decry Unauthorised Caller Tune Deductions
Telephone subscribers in
Port Harcourt have cried out over the monthly deduction of N50.00 for caller tunes by various telecommunication network operators even without their permission.
Speaking with our reporter last Wednesday in Port Harcourt, some subscribers said it was painful that telecoms operators deduct N50 monthly from their airtime balance for unauthorised caller tunes.
One of the subscribers, Gift Wobodo, said that she was not comfortable with the situation, as they (network providers) are not handling the issue properly.
She pointed out that the subscription would have been on request, and not forceful as the telecom companies are going about the transaction.
Wobodo explained how all her attempts to unsubscribe have proved abortive, adding that the caller tune package is of no use.
Another respondent, Okwudili Edeogbodo, who also shaved displeasure over the caller tune package, said that he has once downloaded the package, but regretted that the network providers repeatedly debited his account without his consent.
According to him, network providers are only after profit maximisation. He therefore called on them to improve on their services.
Edeogbodo, recalled that he had complained to some of the telecoms companies like Airtel Nigeria, but was yet to have a feedback from them.
On the contrary, Emmanuel Akasike, who welcomed the caller tune package, hinted that it is worth more than the monetary involvement.
He reasoned that the package keeps the receiver at home, as he called on the telecom companies to always download current music and bible quotations in a bid to encourage subscribers.
