Oshiomhole Harps On Physical Fitness For Nigerians

Oshiomhole of Edo State has stressed the need for physical fitness for all Nigerians.
Oshiomhole said this at the maiden edition of a physical fitness exercise tagged: “Edo Walk for Life,’’ held in Benin.
The governor, who led the state workforce on the 12-kilometre walk, said regular exercise was not a punishment but for a good, healthy life.
He said after the exercise that: “We have all demonstrated that we are fit by the Grace of God and by our power, we are ready to lead our people by example.
“When we ask our people to walk, they think it is punishment because we are poor, but it is good for our health and life, ’’ he said.
Oshiomhole told the participants that the exercise would be held on the first Thursday of every month.
He reminded them that physical fitness was required by all in daily activities.
The Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr Chris Okaeben, commended the participants, adding that he was glad that no casualty was recorded during the exercise.
Okaeben said that the government would ensure every safety arrangement was put in place during the exercise.
He urged all to take the exercise seriously as there was more to gain by been physically fit
The exercise started at the Ogbe Stadium through the Overamwen Square to the Ramat Park and back to the Ogbe Stadium.
