OPM Commits To Talent Discovery, Dev

Ministries (OPM), have started its commitment to harnessing and developing sports talents among others, especially, at the grassroots level towards ensuring that gifted children are given the right environment to develop.
This commitment was stated by the General Over-Seer of the ministry, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere during the maiden inter-house sports competition of the OPM Free Nursery/Primary School, Port Harcourt, on Monday.
According to Apostle Chinyere, the school is focused on ensuring total development of the pupils, both mentally and physically and pays attention to sporting activities.
The sports competition involved two other branches of the school, Ohanku, Abia State and Eleme Schools.
Overall, a total of nine events among four houses, Gold, Diamond, Ivory and Silver Houses for the host school, six for invited schools, march past and parents’ races were competed in.
Gold House won the march past event with 76 points, Ohanku School placed second on 63 points and Ivory House third with 62 points.
Ivory House, however emerged overall winner of the sports competition after dominating the Tracks and Field events. It secured a total of 41 points to beat Silver House, 38 points and Diamond House, 37, to second and third positions, respectively.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Apostle Chinyere said that the Nursery/Primary School and its branches across the country are absolutely free of charge, with books, uniforms and sandals provided for the pupils.
He said that in addition to the physical development of the pupils, it is also ensured that the children learn and study under conducive environment.
Also, the students are put through practical lessons in technical fields such as electronics/computer studies, music – organ, piano and drums lessons with the bills being picked by the church.
“The schools are for the less privileged. OPM has come to set the pace, all the offerings from the church is used to service the schools to the advantage of the less privileged,” Apostle said.
Meanwhile, the school was scheduled for excursions to the airport, University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), Rivers State Judiciary and others for the pupils to be inspired by the professionals they would come across.
