NURTW Rebuilds Union Office
The secretariat of the
National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Mile Three, Nkpolu, Motor Park, now wears a new look, as the union has just concluded the remodelling of the structure to make it befitting.
The Tide observed on a visit to the area that the union’s office which used to look like an abandoned archival structure has now taken a modern look.
Some of the areas where wooden materials were previously used have now been changed to blocks with new designing and modern facilities from the roofing down to the flooring.
Responding, while interacting with The Tide on the development, the secretary of the union, Cyril Amadi, said that the new leadership of the union came up with the idea.
The secretary also commended the efforts of the new vice-chairman who invariably is the leader of the union at the branch for his vision and commitment in ensuring that the venture was undertaken in good time.
Some observers and users of the park had continued to commend the efforts of the new leadership of the union on the new-look structure, and have described it as modern and of international standard.
Meanwhile, the union has expressed concern over the continuous illegal loading and off-loading activities outside the Mile Three Park and unauthorized places along Ikwerre Road which have been responsible for the traffic problem, criminality and loss of revenue to government in the area, and is appealing to the law enforcement agents to tackle the matter.
