Monarch Tasks Ogbakor Etche On Infrastructural, Human Dev

tive members of Ogbakor Etche, an apex socio-cultural organization in Etche Ethnic Nationality, Rivers State have been challenged to focus on infrastructural and human development of the area.
Onye Ishi Etche, His Royal Emminence, Eze E.N.B. Opurum, gave the charge while inaugurating the 13-member executive body of the organization at his Ndashi Palace recently.
Eze Opurum, who is also the patron of the organization said that they would achieve this by shunning partisan politics, pointing out that as a socio-cultural umberella of the people, promotion of cultural heritage of the people should be paramount in their plan of action.
The Etche monarch also stressed the need for the body to work with the chiefs in maintaining peace and harmony among various communities and clans in the area.
“As the patron of the body, I will do everything humanly possible to assist you to achieve the task of developing Etche land,” Eze Opurum assured.
Responding on behalf of the body, the President-General of Ogbakor-Etche, Engineer Samuel Nwankwo thanked Eze Opurum for upholding the cultural heritage of Etche people and promised that the body would partner with traditional institution and other agencies towards the development of the area.
He used the opportunity to call on politicians in Etche and their supporters to shun politics of bitterness and rancor in order to work towards bettering the living standard of the people.
Onye Ishi Etche In-Council and executive of Ogbakor Etche later paid a condolence visit to the family of late Eze Anum of Mba Clan over the death of their brother who died following communal clashes in the area recently.
While consoling the family, Eze Opurum urged Etche youths to shun violence in the interest of human life and development of the area.
