Magistrate Slams N50,000 Bail On TV Producer

Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has slammed a N50,000 bail on a television producer, Austin King, for allegedly destroying fruits worth N25,000.
King, 48, who resides at No. 25B, Folawiyo Bankole St., Aguda, Surulere, Lagos, is facing a charge of damage.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp Gabriel Ekundayo, told the court that the accused had on February 20 destroyed some fruits worth N25,000 belonging to one Mrs Lovert Patrick.
Ekundayo said the accused committed the offence at No. 25B, Folawiyo Bankole St., Aguda, Surulere, Lagos.
He said that the fruits destroyed include, banana, paw-paw and pineapple, while a table belonging to the complainant was also damaged by the accused.
The prosecutor said the accused, who was a brother to the complainant’s landlord, destroyed the items during an argument between them.
Ekundayo said the offence contravened Section 337(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Olajuwon, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with a surety in like sum and adjourned the case till April 25, for mention
