Kwara To Demolish Buildings On River Banks

The Kwara State
Government said last Thursday that it would demolish all buildings  located on river banks.
Alhaji Abubakar Kannike, the  Chairman of the  Task Force on Flood Control and Prevention, said  this while answering questions from newsmen in Ilorin.
The body had visited some areas that were affected by flooding  in  Ilorin metropolis recently.
Kannike, however, said the state government would compensate the owners of the affected buildings.
He said his body also identified roads and bridges that needed reconstruction in future, adding that recommendations would be made to the state government.
The chairman said government would continue to respond to the plight of the people by providing succour for victims of flood disasters in the state.
Areas visited include  Gaa-Akanbi, Pipeline Bridge-Omosebi Hospital, Okin Complex, Coca-Cola road and Gaa-Imam Bridge.
The committee members also visited Ejiba road, New Yidi Road, Mubo Street, Amilegbe, Aduralere, Isalekoko, Akerebiata and Sango Royal Valley Estate, all in Ilorin.
