The officer-in charge,  Ni
gerian Stored Products Research Institute (NISPRI), Rivers State, Mr  Robert Simon, has said that the institute was recorded a number of successes in the fight against food wastages.
Simon, who stated this while speaking to our correspondent recently in his office in Port Harcourt, said so long as funds were available, NISPRI would not hesitate to give free of charge storage facilities to members of the public.
He said the gesture would go a long way to prove to the public that government agencies were doing their best in food, vegetables and fruits preservation.
The NISPRI boss, who is an expert in food preservation said one of the challenges facing the agency was the lack of funds as the organisation depended fully on the federal government for funds.
On the area of partnership with individuals and organisations, he said  lack of fund was also a major setback as it entails reaching out to people in the rural areas.
Highlighting further, he said in such a situation,  individuals interested in NISPRI products could liaise with it and the storage products could be fabricated for them.
He said the organisation has made giant strides and was still ahead in research to ensure that its mandate of food preservation, storage and processing was met.
