Federation Assures On Cycling Dev
The Nigeria Cycling Fed
eration (NCF) has said it was working tirelessly to ensure the certification of the Velodrome in Abuja because of its pivotal role in developing the sport.
The NCF Technical Director, Mohammed Bashir, told newsmen that after the certification, sponsors would be sought after.
Bashir said that when the Velodrome was certified by the cycling world governing body, UCI, the federation would ensure that national and international competitions were organised in it.
“As a federation our mandate is to ensure that the Velodrome becomes functional at the end of the year.
“It will go a long way in developing the skills of cyclists in the country and provide the opportunity to engage them in competitions as often as possible,” he said.
The Velodrome was built in 2003 at the National Stadium, Abuja.
Six cyclists would be representing the country in the Togo Cycling tour scheduled to hold from April 10 to 12.
