FCC To Address Disparity In Distribution Of Social Amenities
The Federal Character
Commission (FCC) has pledged to address the disparity in the distribution of social amenities to areas in need within the country.
The Chairman, Committee on Economic Affairs of FCC, Mr Ifaluyi Isibor, made the promise in an interview with newsmen in Abuja, saying the commission would ensure fairness in the distribution of the amenities.
“This is part of the second mandate of the commission. The committee will meet with the 17 agencies in charge of economic matters to ensure equity in the distribution of socio-economic amenities,” he said.
Isibor disclosed that the committee would conduct a survey in June to get the actual statistics and data from the 774 local government areas.
He said that the analyses would enable the commission to detect the infrastructure needs in the areas.
He stated that the commission would recommend to the Federal Government to include in the budget the amount that would be needed to provide infrastructure.
According to Isibor the committee was one of the 20 operational committees with mandate by the Act setting up the commission, and noted that the committee had been mandated to carry out oversight functions in the Trade and Investment ministry.
