Enugu Approves N759m For Projects

Over N759 million
has been approved by the Enugu State Government for the execution of various projects in the state.
This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Chuks Ugwoke, while briefing journalists at the end of the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Sullivan Chime at the Government House, Enugu.
According to Commissioner Ugwoke, the sum of N300 million was approved for the supply and installation of security (CCTV) and access control systems in the new secretariat buildings.
He explained that the scope of work would include 579 cameras, 44 network video control systems to be installed on 264 doors with 22 controllers, adding that contract was awarded to Prolines Vision Limited.
Ugwoke further said that over N213 million was also approved by the council for the construction of Asu River bridge along  Isiogbo-Nara road in Nkanu East local government area of the state.
He said the council, observed that the existing single lane old Concrete Bridge across Asu River along the road was in a bad shape, as the volume of traffic was beyond its capacity.
The Commissioner stated that more than N106 million was also approved by the council for the resuscitation of Emene Testing Ground and the Drivers Training Institute.
He noted that the scope of work at the Institute included, fencing of the complex, renovation of V.I.O. testing building, and the construction of office buildings among others.
The State Information boss added that the council also approved over N89 million for the payment of the state counterpart fund for the State Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP II).
Our correspondent reports that RAMP is a veritable instrument for rural transformation and poverty reduction through rural road construction in the selected intervention area.
