Director Tips Eagles For World Cup Victory
The Technical Assistant
Director of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) James Peters, has said in Abuja that the Super Eagles were capable of lifting the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Peters, who is one of the instructors at the ongoing CAF C-License Coaching Course for Nigeria coaches, told newsmen that the task was not beyond the team.
“I am very optimistic. No country goes to that competition to say it is going to lose.
“Everybody is going there to challenge for the trophy and I think Nigeria is going there to challenge for the trophy too.
“When the trophy offers itself for grabs, you can grab it and go with it.
“Nigeria is not playing second fiddle to anybody or to any nation.
“I am looking at Nigeria and hoping that it should be able to go there to contest for the trophy as every other team,’’ Peters said.
He noted that Stephen Keshi, the Super Eagles coach, should ensure the team paraded their best legs to brighten the country’s chances of excelling at the tournament.
Peters, however, advised the team not to see the tournament as a “do or die’’, but rather should concern themselves with putting up a good performance.
Nigeria had been drawn with Argentina, Iran and Bosnia-Herzegovina in Group F of the World Cup scheduled to take place in Brazil between June 12 and July 13.
