Media Officer, Crown
FC of Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Kunle Oyeleye, has advised the League Management Company (LMC) to ensure fair officiating at the ongoing Globacom Premier League.
Oyeleye told newsmen that officiating in the league had been poor, leading to some clubs expressing dissatisfaction with the outcome of matches.
“Officiating at match venues has been poor; it will go a long way if the LMC can find a way to improve on the qualities of its officials.
“If this shortcoming is not addressed immediately, clubs will remain disgruntled and start protesting the results,” he said.
The media officer said that referees with integrity were the only way to effectively market the league, adding that a well organised league would attract investors and spectators.
Oyeleye also noted that if the issue of biased officiating during matches was not corrected, it would ultimately affect the development of the league.
“Football is a game where a club will either win or lose some matches, but the outcome can be greatly determined with good officiating,” he said.
He then, urged the LMC to ensure that subsequent matches of the league as it enters week seven should be managed by officials of high integrity.
