“Chess is a very interesting game and if taken seriously can be used as an instrument for youth empowerment.
“Children who play chess consistently develop a high sense of reasoning which can be used to solve real life situations,” he said.
According to him, children who constantly play chess had the opportunity to quickly develop their skills and can represent their country in international competitions at young age.
He said that if need be, chess could be introduced into the school curriculum for mental alertness of every child.
Chinedu-Rockson said that his academy, for the past five years, had been hosting chess competitions to ensure the cognitive development of children in their early ages.
The arbiter hinted that his academy encouraged the promotion of chess among young ones as a tool for youth empowerment.
According to Chinedu-Rockson, the country has abundant talents that if adequately developed can positively change children and the country in general.
