Bangkok DG Hails Rivers Monorail Project
The Deputy Governor
of Bangkok, Thailand, Mr Amorn Kitchameng Kol has expressed satisfaction with the on-going monorail project embarked upon by the Rivers State Government.
Kitchamengkol made the assertion while inspecting the project at the Station Road terminal park, Port Harcourt last Thursday.
He said he was very proud of the project which would help the transportation system in the state, and commended Governor Chubuike Amaechi for his initiative and the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. George Tolofari, for ensuring that the project was of standard.
According to him, the quality of job done on the monorail project was satisfactory, describing the governor’s initiative as a welcome development.
The visiting Deputy Governor also noted that the Rivers State Government acquired the services of best consultants and engineers on site as well as quality materials, believing that with the efficiency, quality of life would be improved and further gave kudos to the Rivers State Government for the gigantic project.
Kitchamengkol posited that the project when completed would no doubt create employment opportunities to the people of the state and opined that with the project on ground, Bangkok would be interested to invest in Rivers State, which had also become the World Book Capital 2014.
Earlier in his speech, the State Commissioner for Transport, Mr George Tolofari had lauded the delegation from Bangkok for their visit to the state and the monorial project site, and assured that the project would soon be completed and commissioned for use.
Tolofari however debunked the rumour making the rounds that the monorail project had been abandoned, saying that work had been on-going according to specification.
