APC Gets New States Executives …Rivers, Blazing Trail In Democratic Norms -Amaechi
All Progressives Congress (APC) new officials to run the affairs of the party emerged on Saturday across the States nationwide as many were returned through consensus.
In Gombe State, the party elected a3- member executive officers to run the affairs of the party in the state.
The officials were elected during the state congress of the party, which was held at the Gombe Local Government Secretariat of the party.
The election was conducted peacefully.
Announcing the results, the Secretary of the Congress Committee, Alhaji Baba Madugu, said that the election was conducted through affirmation of “Yes” or “No” votes by the delegates because there was only one contestant in each of the positions.
Madugu said that the Interim Chairman of the party, Mr. Magaji Doho was elected substantive chairman, while Mr Simon Dauda-Tula emerged deputy chairman of the party.
In his acceptance speech, Doho said the executives would go to all the nooks and crannies of the state to mobilise the people to vote for the party in the 2015 general elections to ensure change.
In the FCT, the congress produced Alhaji Abdulmalik Usman as chairman.
Speaking to newsmen after his election by the 382 delegates who attended the congress, Usman pledged to promote internal party democracy.
He also promised to provide a level-playing ground to all members irrespective of tribal and religious differences.
The election was conducted under a peaceful atmosphere.
The chairman and other officials were elected through consensus.
In Lagos State, the congress elected 35 new executives by consensus.
The state Chairman of the party, Mr Henry Ajomale and the Deputy Chairman, Mr James Odunbaku retained their positions.
Mr Wasiu Sanni was elected state secretary, while Mrs Rebecca Ajose emerged as treasurer.
The chairman of the Congress Electoral Committee, Mr. Dele Kosoko who announced the results, said the election was conducted in line with the electoral law.
Kosoko said that the delegates chose the executives on their own and that they were not coerced or forced to make their decisions.
Speaking after the election, Ajomale thanked the delegates for the trust reposed in them, and pledged that the new executives would do all its best to further advance the fortunes of the party in the state.
Other officers elected include Eddy Julius, deputy chairman and Martins Daniel as secretary.
Also in Enugu State, Dr Ben Nwoye emerged the Chairman of the party, while Maj.- Gen. Chris Eze (Rtd.) was elected as secretary of the party.
Others elected include Mr Adolphus Udeh as the deputy chairman, Messrs Emecheta Ugwu, Anike Nwoga and Ebere Okoro emerged as vice chairmen of the three senatorial zones of Enugu East, West and North.
Announcing the result, the Chairman of the Congress Committee in the state, Mr Uche Onyeagocha commended the peaceful conduct of the congress.
In his acceptance speech, the new state Chairman, Nwoye said the executive would produce credible candidates that would take over the government in the state.
Meanwhile, Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, says the state is always first when it comes to promoting democratic ideal and entrenching democratic practices in the polity.
Governor Amaechi said this Saturday during the state congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the Alfred Diete-Spiff Civic Centre, Port Harcourt.
Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, the Governor stated that his position is clearly demonstrated in the smooth conduct of the just-concluded congress in the State, attributing the success of the congress to the efforts and good conduct of the delegates.
“Again, Rivers State has set the pace. As I listened to radio this afternoon, this congress that looks so easy, so transparent and flowing, in some states it was not so. The success of this congress is because of you. You have come in here, and conducted yourselves. You voted when you needed to vote your candidates, specifically to deliver the party”, he said.
He congratulated the newly elected state executive of the party,saying, this is a “brand new executive of the party led by an able chairman. A chairman who is like a lion. A chairman who can deliver APC. A chairman who will lead Rivers people out to vote as we used to vote. Congratulations.”
He charged him not to “rest on your oars. Go into the nooks and crannies of this State and awaken the spirits of our people, and let them know that the new direction, the new way to go is APC”.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of the elected officials, the newly elected state Chairman of the APC Chief Davies Ikanya, thanked Governor Amaechi, the State Congress Committee, INEC, and all the delegates for the confidence reposed in them to pilot the affairs of the party, declaring that together “we will surrender our party unto Jehovah, the Creator of heaven and earth to help us succeed”.
He maintained that “we will be tools in the hands of God to elect an APC governor in Rivers State. We will be tools in the hands of God to elect an APC President in Nigeria. We will be tools in the hands of God to bring about the required change,” assuring that with God on its side, the APC will win the 2015 elections.
Announcing the result, Chairman of the State Congress Committee and Chief Returning Officer for the state congress, Chief Cosmas Maduba, declared that those elected at the just concluded state congress are Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, State Chairman, Prince Peter Odike, deputy State Chairman, Chief Emeka Beke, State Secretary, Chinweikpe Chieme, state legal Adviser, Hon. Dandyson Uku, state organizing secretary, Ogezi Boms, state welfare Secretary, Mrs. Roseline Nwankwoala, state financial secretary, Albert Abinye Alex-Hart, state treasurer, Hyacinth Dike, State Auditor, Chris Finebone, State Publicity Secretary, Caroline Nagbo, state women leader, and Barrister Sobere Eli, State youth leader.
Others are Gilbert Fiberesima,Ngorji Warmate, and James Kobah, zonal vice chairmen, East, West, and South-East, respectively; Loveday Okere, Uyodhu Gad Ewoh, and Hyacinth Nwiyee, as Senatorial Youth Leaders East, West, and South-East, respectively; while Mrs. Gloria Oruene, Ngoba Karibi-Whyte, and Mrs. Eunice Nwaonu, were elected senatorial women leaders, East, West, and South-East, respectively.
Princess Urey Ejims was elected assistant women leader, Inyefai Madise Wobo, state assistant legal adviser, Abel Onungwe, state assistant youth leader, Emmanuel Okatta, state assistant treasurer, Mr. Osaki Dick-Abbey, state assistant auditor, Samuel Azu, state assistant financial secretary, Gloria Kalada Nonju, state assistant organizing secretary, Dabo Dappa, state assistant publicity secretary, Blessing Nchima, state assistant welfare secretary, Napoleon Ukalikpe, state Assistant Secretary, while the ex-officio members are Adiele Sam Wobo, Emmanuel Eneyo, Mbadiwe Oguzor, and Afisoka Amamina.
