2015 AYC: FIFA Referee Trains Flying Eagles
FIFA referee Peter
Edibe has in Abuja handled the morning training of the national Under-20 male football team, the Flying Eagles, at the National Stadium.
A statement by the team’s Media Officer, Samm Audu, said the purpose of the training was to take the players through the laws of the game.
“The training session was for seven-a-side games.
“After the training, Edibe addressed the players on the need to abide by a better dress code and be mindful of infringements inside their penalty box, even when the ball is at the other end of the pitch,” it said.
The statement also quoted Edibe as saying that he was proud of the team’s achievements.
“I am proud because the bulk of players of the national under-17 male team, who I also took on a similar exercise last year in Calabar, went on to win the FIFA Fair Play Trophy at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in the UAE,” it quoted the referee as saying.
The present Flying Eagles squad is made up mainly of players from the Golden Eaglets side which won the FIFA U-17 World Cup last October in the UAE.
The team is preparing for the qualifiers of the 2015 African Youth Championship (AYC).
