Yul Edochie Earns N1m Per Movie …As Producers Relocate From Asaba To Awka
Yul Edochie, son of
veteran actor, Peter Edochie, has emerged the hottest male actor in Nollywood presently. Yul, according to our source, is the preferred lead in most of the movies by producers, directors and even marketers. His going rate per movie now N1 million naira.
He played lead role in 5 out of 10 movies made in the Enugu, Awka and Asaba axis last year. However, Kenneth Oronkwo has still remained the highest paid male actor for two years running as he earns between N1.3 and N1.5 million per movie.
Meanwhile, Asaba, the Delta State capital is fast losing grip as the preferred location of Nollywood home video. In the past four years, the Delta State capital had been where all the producers and directors head to, for their movies, but all that is changing now as the marketers and producers have moved enmass into Awka, the Anambra State capital.
It was gathered that these days, only a few films are produced in Asaba as many now prefer the ambience of Awka and its environs as location. It was also learnt that the movement from Asaba to Awka begun some two years back, but only became significant late last year.
According to our sources, 50 per cent of all the home videos made last year were in Awka with Asaba and Enugu sharing the rest.
We further scooped that most producers are getting better deal as per hotel accommodation and location sets from their Igbo kins and friends, hence the movement to Awka.
