U-17 Women’s W/Cup: Coach Urges Flamingoes To Overwhelm Colombia

Former Super Eagles assistant coach Bitrus Bewarang has warned the Flamingoes not to underestimate Colombia in their second Group D game of the Fifa Women’s U-17 World Cup.
The Flamingoes started their campaign in the youth tourney on a positive note with a 2-1 win over China in Costa Rica.
Bewarang has now urged the team to sustain the momentum when they tackle their South American opponents on Wednesday.
“When I hear of China or Japan in female football, I am always jittery because they have developed their football to a high level,” Bewarang told News Agency of Nigeria.
“The win against China on Sunday is a good start for us and the players should not rest on their oars to ensure they achieve a win against Colombia.
“I think our first match has been able to put us in a comfortable position. But with the Mexicans’ four goals tally (against Colombia) and three goals advantage, our girls must work harder.
“This is because China can bounce back, unless they lose their second match. They should try and beat Colombia convincingly and not see them as pushovers,” added Bewarang, who is the president of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association.
