Three Persons Docked Over Theft Of Cable
Three accused persons
have appeared before a Port Harcourt Senior Magistrate Court 8 presided over by Daisy N. Wanjoku, for allegedly stealing amoured cable wire belonging to Nigeria Agip Oil Company on charge sheet number PMC/399C/2014. The accused persons, Godwin Prince, 17, Lucky David, 24 and Solomon Okoloujkwu, 39, are standing trail on four count charge felony, stealing, conspiracy.
The prosecuting police officer, Sgt Ikosi Omanoye told the court that the first and second accused persons, Godwin Prince and Lucky David and others now at large on the 15th day of January 2014 at Omoku / Egbema High Way road in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District did conspire among them selves to commit felony wit: stealing. The police prosecution also told the court that the first and second accused persons on the same date and place in the afore said Magisterial District did steal some length of amoured cable wire belonging to Nigeria Agip Oil Company, value yet unknown.
The prosecutor further told the court that the third accused person, Solomon Okoloujukwu on the same date and place in the afore said Magisterial District did receive: some length of armoured cable wire value yet unknown belonging to Nigeria Agip Oil Company adding that the accused person did have in his possession some length of stolen of amoured cable of NAOC.
The police prosecutor averred that the accused persons committed an offence punishable under section 519A(1), 390(9), 427 and 430 (1) of the criminal code cap 37 vol II laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999. The accused persons pleaded not guilty in all the charges brought against them.
Counsel to the accused persons, Barr. C.S. Okeke, urged the court to admit the accused persons bail, adding that all the accused persons are first time offenders and have reasonable sureties to take them on bail.
