Teenager Bags One Year Jail Term

Magistrate Court has convicted a teenager and sentenced  him to one year imprisonment after he  pleaded guilty on the two-count charge brought against him before Chief Magisterate Ipalibo F. Iyiabo, on charge sheet number pmc/542c/2014.
The accused, Nneka Suanu, 19 before his conviction was arraigned on two count charge of breach of peace and break and entry before Chief Magistrate I.F. Iyiabo.
The prosecuting police officer, Inspector Wilson Isaiah, told the court that, the convict, Nneka Suanu, on the 20th day of March, 2014, at about 2345 hrs at Federal Government College Abuloma, Port Harcourt Magisterial district did jump into the school premises through the fence in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.
The prosecution further told the court that on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did break and enter into JSS3E classroom block of Federal Government Girls College, Abuloma Port Harcourt to commit felony.
He stated that the accused person committed at offence punishable under section 81 and 414 of the criminal code cap 37 vol. ll laws of Rivers State, 1999.
When the charge was read to the convict, the convict admitted committing the offences as charged, however, pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy.
They presiding Chief Magistrate Ipalibo F. Iyiabo, convicted the accused person in the two count charge brought against the accused.
In court one, the accused bagged six months jail term, while in the second charge, the accused is to serve one year imprisonment.
He ordered that the two would run concurrently without no monetary options adding “that considering the age of the convict, the sentence is to serve as a deterrent to others.”
