RSG Fulfills N300m Christmas Gift To Workers

The Rivers State Government has begun the payment of Christmas cash gift of N300million promised by the state Governor, Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to civil/public servants in the state.
A circular signed on behalf of the Head of Service by the Permanent Secretary, Policy/Strategy in the Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Emmanuel Urang, said following the release of funds, disbursement of the cash gift, which began last Monday, would be based on the staff strength of each ministry, department and agency (MDA), including the newly recruited 13,000 teachers, as at December 31, 2013.
It stated that each staff would receive N5,000 across-the-board, excluding members of the State Inter-governmental Forum, explaining that the decision to exclude some categories of staff was to enable those in the lower ranks get something substantial in view of the large number of staff in the state civil/public service.
The statement directed all MDAs to forward their account details to the office of the head of service to facilitate the transfer of their due amounts into their accounts for immediate disbursement to their staff.
It would be recalled that the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, had on the January 8, 2014 at a New Year Prayer/Dedication Service organized by the office of the head of service, promised the sum of N300million as Christmas gift to civil/public servants in the state.
