Rivers Dart Athletes Ready For Lagos Championship
Preparations are in top
gear for the forthcoming Dart Championship tagged 4th edition of “Late Otumba Raheem Ade Komolafe Memorial Dart Tournament” scheduled to hold on the 26th of this month, in Lagos State.
Chief coach of Rivers State Dart Association, Queeneth Nwachukwu, made this known in an interview with Tidesports at the Alfred Diette Spiff Sports Complex, Port Harcourt, recently.
Nwachukwu said that the competition which is organised twice or thrice annually is to immortalize one of the founders of the Sport, late Otunba Raheem Ade Komolafe.
According to the state dart association the body is presently under-going intensive training as part of preparations for the task ahead, saying that, the team would commence daily training from next Monday.
“We train Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, but, from next Monday daily training would begin to further fortify the team for the championship,” he said.
She also explained that the competition would be used to select and prepare athletes for the forthcoming 19th National Sports Festival expected to hold in Calabar, Cross Rivers State this year.
It would be recalled that, the 3rd edition of the championship were held Edo, Kafamchan and Lagos State while Rivers State won a total of four medals in the last edition, one gold in Edo, one silver in Kafanchan and a silver and bronze in Lagos State respectively.
