The chairman of a grassroots sports promoting Organization (OTS) and Association and former chairman of Dolphins FC Supporters Club of Port Harcourt, Ambassador Otis Asonye has called for immediate Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt.
Asonye In an interview with Tidesports said that there was need for the sponsors of the club, Rivers State Government to get to the root of the allegation so that effective steps would be taken to forestall future occurrence.
According to him, the recent sack of the club’s General Manager, Dumbor Aawanen is not  enough as he believes that more people may be  involved in the saga.
Sources close to the club, who spoke under condition of anonymity said that the sacking of Aawanen might not be unrelated to alleged ale of a Dolphin player and subsequent diversion of the money realised.
The former supporters club chairman further urged the state government  to carry out a detailed audit of Dolphins FC’s finances and transactions.
‘ It is important to properly investigate the N27m fraud that is rocking the club because General Manager may not be  the only one involved. Both the technical crew and management have been selling players without due process and knowledge of the state government that spends millions of naira on the club and players, Asonye said.
He added that, ‘ sack or suspension should not be  the only disciplinary measure against anybody found culpable, they should be charged to court and prosecuted”.
Efforts to get across to the Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Hon Fred Igwe yielded no result as he failed to pick our phone calls.
