Pharmacist Stresses Importance Of Plum Cultivation

Ahmodu has stressed the need for the cultivation of the plum crop due to its health benefits.
Ahmodu, who was speaking in an NTA programme, AM Express recently said the plum was rich in fibre which enhances digestion.
He said the fruit could be consumed cooked dry or fresh.
The plum fruit which he described as sweet could be used in various ways including recipes of plum wine and jam among others.
He said the fruit had low calories and offers healthy and anti-oxidant essential.
The pharmacists described the colours of the plum as red, blue, black, purple, yellow and green even as he said the crop was believed to have originated from Asia.
He further explained that the plum was grown all over the world and studies show that there were more than 100 varieties of the crop.
According to Ahmodu, the whole of the plum plant could be used in the treatment of diarrhea and dysentery among other ailments affecting the human alimentary carnal.
“I know diseases of diabetics has been linked to various disorders of the alimentary carnal,” he said.
He further highlighted that the plum was a very important material among plants needed for the treatment of blood diseases even as he said consumption of plum also helps in the absorption of iron into the body system.
“It also helps in better blood circulation and retention of good health and better sight.
“Research has shown that plum has an anti-oxidant property that helps prevent tumor growth in the body,” he said.
