NULGE Wants Investigation Of Suspended Officers

Local Government Employees (NULGE), has appealed to the Ebonyi State  Government to quicken investigation in the case involving 26 principal officers of local governments in the state.
In a communiqué issued after a meeting, the union urged the Local Government Service Commission to “carry out a thorough and quick investigation into the matter and recall those found not culpable to their previous positions’’.
The communiqué, made available to The Tide through the union’s state secretariat, restated that the duty of “NULGE was  to protect the interest and welfare of workers in the local government system.
It stressed that the union did not shield workers with proven cases of misappropriation and other misdeeds.
The union gave an assurance that it would continue to partner with all the stakeholders for the smooth running of the local government system and the welfare of  the workers.
The communiqué was signed by Messrs Leonard Nkah and Chucks Nwankwo, Chairman and Secretary of the union respectively.
The Tide, recalls that the officers were suspended in February,  for allegedly diverting the October salary of local government workers in 13 development centres.
