NNPC Floods Zamfara With Kerosene
The Nigeria National
Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has released 66,000 litres of kerosene for sale to the public in Zamfara State at Federal Government’s approved pump price of N50 per litre.
The Managing Director, Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), Mr Haruna Momoh, announced this in Gusau at a ceremony to declare the availability of the product in the state.
Represented by Mr Adamu Sani, the NNPC Depot Manager in Gusau, Momoh said that 22,000 litres would be off-loaded at AP designated filling stations in each of three local government headquarters of Gusau, Kaura-Namoda and Talata-Mafara.
He assured that the NNPC would facilitate regular supplies of kerosene and other petroleum products to the state at controlled prices to ease the difficulties faced by the people.
He urged consumers to be orderly while purchasing the commodity, and assured that the NNPC would make the product available in all parts of the state.
Commending the NNPC for the supply, Governor Abdulaziz Yari said that the gesture would help to reduce felling of trees for use as firewood.
Represented by Alhaji Garba Ahmed, a member of the state Task Force on the Distribution of Petroleum Products, the governor appealed to the people to take advantage of the kerosene supply for their domestic use and avoid hoarding.
Also speaking, a representative of AP Petroleum Company, Alhaji Bashir Abdulaziz, called for adequate deployment of policemen during sales, and assured that the stations would remain open until the commodity was exhausted.
Some of the consumers who spoke to newsmen at the occasion expressed delight over the supply, and urged government to continue to make the commodity available.
