The Technical Director,
Nigeria Cycling Federation (NCF), Mohammed Bashir, has said that 2014 would be busy for the country’s cyclists.
Bashir made the statement in an interview with newsmen.
He said that cyclists in the country were warming up for various national and international competitions, adding that the NCF was striving to provide the necessary logistics for the programmes.
“With the quality of persons that make up the NCF board at present, I expect a lot of activities for cyclists both nationally and internationally.
“It will not only expose them but develop their skills; engaging them in competitions is vital,” Bashir said.
The technical director told newsmen that two cyclists, Innocent Emmanuel and John Dede were currently in South Africa undergoing training as part of the development efforts.
He told newsmen that the selection of the two cyclists was based on their performances at the 2013 African Cycling Championship in Egypt.
The technical director also said that the federation was preparing for the 2nd edition of the CycleFest Competition in Lagos as well as a cycling tour of Togo.
He said that the two events would hold in April.
