NESREA Tasks Nigerians On Healthy Environment
The National Envi
ronmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), has urged Nigerians to embrace clean and healthy living to reduce communicable diseases.
The NESREA Coordinator in Ebonyi State, Mrs Mfon Nkanang, made the plea in an interview with newsmen in Abakaliki.
She said that clean environment did not only improve the aesthetics of the environment, but “also promotes healthy living and reduces the transmission of communicable diseases”.
Nkanang said “Nigerians must embrace clean and healthy environment which is part of the objective of the Millennium Development Goals.
“Apart from the health aspect, we must also note that clean environment will help reduce the frequency of disasters such as flooding and accidents in the country.
“The rate at which man has destroyed the ecosystem in quest for survival and comfort has led to climate change and global warming.
“This has become a big threat to survival on earth. This ugly trend may make living on earth not conducive, if not checked.’’
