Nasarawa NULGE Resolves Leadership Crisis …Elects New Executives

cal Government Employees (NULGE) in Nasarawa State has elected new executive members to run it affairs for the next four years.
The election ended the union’s four years leadership crisis in the state.
The election, which took place in Keffi, was presided over by the National President of the union, Mr Ibrahim Khaleed.
Khaleed, who announced the result, said Abdullahi Abubakar emerged winner of the state president with 246 votes to defeat Adamu Salihu-Eladoga who got six votes, while  Mr Aklo Anzaku was returned unopposed as the vice president.
He said Ibrahim Jerimi polled 220 votes to defeated, Abdullahi Hussaini and Abdullahi Sambo, who got five and 28 votes, respectively for the position of treasurer. Ahmed Isaq and Adams Zubairu were elected as auditors.
Kahleed called on the new union officials to carry everybody along in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Also, Gov. Umar Tanko Al-Makura, expressed delighted that the leadership tussle in the union had ended.
Represented by Mohammed Danazimi, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Al-Makura urged the new leadership to cooperate with his government to deliver dividends of democracy.
Al-makura charged the new executives to live above board and be good managers of public resources
“As people elected to steer the ship of local government staff, posterity will judge all of you on how best you handle the affairs of the people,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, Abubakar commended the delegates for the peaceful conduct of the conference.
Abubakar promised not to let the union down, and assured that everyone would be carried along for the progress of the union.
It would be recalled that Nasarawa State NULGE had been involved in a four-year leadership and legal tussle, which led to the formation of splitter groups in the union.
