Mission Offers Free Medical Care In Imo
Some 350 people in
Imo State have benefited from free medical services being provided in the state by U.S based Horizon International Medical Mission (HIMM).
The mission, founded by Dr Kennedy Okere, provides free medical care to rural communities around the world.
Our correspondent reports that 150 people benefited from the exercise early last Tuesday at the Grace Hospital, Eziama, Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo, where medical personnel from the group attended to patients.
Earlier on Monday, 200 patients, including children, were treated for various ailments in Ihiagwa, Owerri-West, Local Government Area of the state.
Okere said as a practising doctor, he had always sought ways of contributing to the development and progress of Nigeria.
“We are always excited to take quality healthcare to people that need it and the joy on the faces of the people we meet and care for is very satisfying to us.
“While HIMM is not restricted to Nigeria, it gives us extra joy when we bring the care to the doorsteps of our own people.
“We have been involved in taking healthcare around the world for 14 years now and every new visit is an adventure to us,’’ he said.
Okere said that some of the most common illnesses among the people they treated were arthritis, hypertension and rheumatism.
He said this was mostly caused by the type of jobs the people did, noting that the people of Imo were mostly farmers.
Some of the beneficiaries lauded the team for the free services they offered the people.
“The doctors were very nice to me and I am so glad I came, Pastor Alex Okoronkwo, one of them”, said.
