Man, 19, Docked Over Possession Of Arms
A nineteen year-old man,
Uduak Effiong, has been arraigned before a Port Harcourt Senior Magistrate presided over by D.N Wanjoku for allegedly being in possession of locally made fire arm on charge sheet number pmc/520C/2014.
The accused person, Uduak Effiong, 19, is standing trial on two-count charge of unlawful possession of fire arms and other criminal activities.
The prosecuting police officer, Sgt Ikosi Omanoye, told the court that the accused and others now at large, on the 10th day of March, 2014, at about 2307 hrs at No.175 Abuloma Road, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of the State, in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District did unlawfully possess a locally made double barrel-gun.
The police prosecutor further told the court that the accused person and others now at large in the same place, date and time in the aforesaid magisterial district did unlawfully possess one cartridge.
He stated that the accused person committed an offence punishable under section 428 and 428 (d) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. II Laws of Rivers State ,1999.
The accused person pleaded not guilty on the two-count charge brought against him.
Ruling on the matter, the presiding Senior Magistrate court 8, Daisy Wanjoku, admitted the accused to bail with the sum of N200,000 and 2 sureties.
The sureties shall deposit two recent passport photograph, and swear affidavict of means while the prosecutor will verify the residence of the sureties. The case was later adjourned to 9th April, 2014..
