Legislator Harps On Capacity Building

lative Assembly, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Council of Bayelsa, Mr Zikiebiye Usikoromogha,said eight local governments in the state had teamed up to woo foreign investors.
Usikoromogha, who spoke to newsmen at Kiama recently, commended the Bayelsa Investment Promotion Agency (BIPA) for its road show for the local governments in the state.
He said that the road show was to showcase the state investment potential and promote small and medium business enterprises from the grassroots level.
On capacity building, he also commended the state government on its giant stride in human capital development.
He said that human capital development in the state was key to effective change.
Usikoromogha said that creating capacity framework in human development was important and must be pursued with vigour.
He said that the partnership between the local and the state government in capacity building and economic development had been worthwhile.
“Kudos to the present administration on manpower development, especially in the area of education, agriculture, business enterprises among others.
“Many of our youths have been sent oversea to study under the state government scholarship; the oversea undergraduate and master degree programme has done well to our people.
“The students in the secondary are also benefiting through the annual secondary school scholarship by the government to study in the best secondary schools in the country.
“There are many skill and manpower developmental centres in the state; I urge the youth to key into the restoration policy of the government,” Usikoromogha said.
