A 35-year-old land
speculator, Bayo Akinsola, who allegedly flouted a court order, was last Thursday charged in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
Akinsola, a resident of No. 9, Kushimo St., off AIT Road, Alagbado, Lagos, is facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, contempt of court, misdemeanour and threat to life.
The Prosecutor, ASP Eranus Nnamonu, told the court that the accused and others at large committed the offences at 1.35 p.m., on Febuary 13, at Agbenuba Village, a suburb of Alagbado, Lagos.
Nnamonu said that the accused committed misdemeanour by unlawfully removing a public notice order placed on a land, issued by Justice S. O. Nwaka of an Ikeja High Court.
The prosecutor said that the accused conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by threatening the residents of Agbenuba with guns and cutlasses.
According to the prosecutor, the action of the accused caused trepidation within the community.
He said that the offences contravene Sections 7, 56(b) 166 (1) (d) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to all the counts of the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs Abimbola Komolafe, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000, with two responsible sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till April 22 for mention.
