Jonathan Sacks Aviation Agency Chief

The Federal Government yesterday announced swift changes in the Ministry of Aviation, its departments and agencies with the sack of principal officers of the parastatals.
In a statement, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation indicated that the sack of chief executive officers of the key aviation agencies has been approved by President Goodluck Jonathan.
The statement, signed by Special Assistant (Media) to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sam Nwaobasi, said that the changes are with immediate effect.
A statement, titled: “Re-Organisation In The Ministry Of Aviation”, said, President Goodluck Jonathan has approved massive re-organization in the Ministry of Aviation.
It indicated that following the president’s approval, Engr. Saleh Dumona (Director Projects, FAAN) now replaces Mr. George Uriesi as managing director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) while Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam (General Manager, Procurements, NAMA) also replaces Engr. Nnamdi Udoh as managing director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).
According to the statement, Capt. Samuel Akinyele Caulcrick (Government Safety Inspector & ICAO Focal Point for Nigeria Online Aircraft Safety Information Systems, OASIS) now replaces Capt. Chinyere Kalu as rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) just as  Capt. Muhktar Usman (Commissioner, Accident Investigation & Prevention Bureau, AIPB) replaces Capt. Fola C. Akinkuotu as director general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) subject to confirmation by the Senate.
It added that Engr. Benedict Adeyileka will act as DG, NCAA pending the confirmation of Usman by the Senate.
Similarly, Dr. Engr. Felix A. Abali (director, Licencing, NCAA) also replaces Capt. Muhktar Usman as commissioner, Accident Investigation and Prevention Bureau (AIPB).
The statement further said that Dr. Tony Anuforom retains his position as director general of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMMET).
Meanwhile, President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the compulsory retirement of Justice Gladys Olotu and Justice U.A. Inyang of Federal High Court and FCT High Court respectively.
Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Mohammed Adoke, made the disclosure yesterday at the Presidential Villa in a news conference with State House correspondents.
It would be recalled that the two judges were last Wednesday suspended for gross misconduct by the National Judicial Council.
The Council, presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Maryam Aloma-Mukhtar, had forwarded a recommendation for their compulsory retirement to the President.
Adoke said that the President approved the compulsory retirement of the judges based on the NJC recommendation.
He said the compulsory retirement took effect on Monday.
