Jonathan Nominates Three For NPC, RMAFC Membership

Jonathan has  sent three names to the Senate to confirm as members of the National Population Commission (NPC) and the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
Alhaji Hassan Bashir (Bauchi) and Mr Lanre Fayemi (Ekiti) are to be considered as members of NPC while Mr Emmanuel Omirin (Osun) is to be screened for RMAFC membership.
Presenting the President’s request at plenary, the Deputy Leader of the Senate, Abdul Ningi, said the request was in accordance with Section 154 (1) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
The Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided at the session and received the request, referred NPC membership nominations to the Committee on National Identity and National Population.
Ekweremadu also referred the nomination for RMAFC to the Committee on Poverty Alleviation and National Planning.
He gave both committees two weeks to submit their reports.
Meanwhile, a Bill seeking to amend the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act 2014 was read at Senate plenary on Tuesday.
Other bills also read for the first time were those on Immigration 2014 and Violence against Persons (Prohibition) Bill, 2014.
