Ikwerre Women Back Amaechi’s Political Agenda

Ikwerre women under the aegis of Ikwerre Women Forum have pledged to propagate the political agenda and vision of the Governor Chibuike Amaechi-led administration in Rivers State.
Speaking on Saturday during the inauguration of the IWF in Ikwerre Local Government Area, National President of the body, Engr. Victoria Nyeche maintained that the forum will ensure political stability and sustainable development in the state.
One way to sustain the Amaechi vision, Nyeche disclosed was to make sure that women participate in the upcoming elections by choosing credible leaders.
She charged the women to throw their weight behind the Rivers chief executive and ensure that votes for All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015 are counted.
Also speaking, chairman of the occasion, Elder Chidi Wihioka thanked God for making it possible for the four Ikwerre-speaking local governments to work in unity for the speedy development of the LGAs.
He held that the Amaechi administration has set the pace in promoting people-oriented governance and accountable stewardship, and commended the governor for his doggedness to fight corruption in Nigerian polity.
Similarly, Chief of Staff, Government House, Sir Tony Okocha urged the women to commit the government to consistent prayers to enable Amaechi’s goodwill impact positively on the populace.
Speaking earlier, Secretary General of Ikwerre Women Forum (IWF), Dr, Lois Nkechi Abraham said that the grand finale of the body’s inauguration in Ikwerre took place as the home of the governor and cradle of democratic change in the country.
She disclosed that the body was formed in 2000 to serve as the umbrella rallying point of all women in Ikwerre ethnic nationality, and further urged them to remain focused in the rebirth of the body.
On her part, wife of Ikwerre Local Government Chairman, Lady Ichechi Welendu Amadi equally described Governor Amaechi as the face of democracy and good governance in the country.
She pointed out that in the history of development in Rivers State, the Amaechi-led government has set a legacy that cannot be compared to any administration, except that of Commander Alfred Diete-Spiff.
Coordinator of IWF in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Mrs. Grace Wori Amadinna, in her acceptance speech, pledged the resolve of the women to rise to their responsibility as change agents and ensure better life for the womenfolk.
