Falconents Fear No Foe In Canada
Coach of the national U-20 Women Football team, Falconets, Peter Dedevbo, has said that he has nothing to fear about his team’s Group C opponents at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Dedevbo told newsmen that his national under-20 women football team was capable of facing any of the teams in the group without hassles.
Nigeria is paired alongside England, Mexico and Korea Republic in the group stage of the competition billed for Canada from August 4 to August24.
The coach said his team had played against some of the teams at the FIFA U-17 Women’s world Cup before now.
“Really, being in that group gives us more advantage. I don’t have any fears about the teams in our group.
“They are rather the ones that should be afraid of us because we are comfortable with the pairing and it is fair.
On the team’s preparations, Dedevbo said he had sent a proposal to the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) and he was awaiting its approval by the association.
He also said most of the players who participated in the competition’s qualifiers for the Falconets would feature in the competition in Canada.
“Some new players will also be injected into the team,’’ the coach said.
He, however, said he was hopeful of starting the team’s camping programme early to enable the old and new players blend before the competition.
