The award was presented by the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Uju Okeke, at the 5th Convocation ceremony of the institution held recently at the permanent site of the University, in Igbariam.
Dr. Nwabueze, who is a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication of the institution, had won the Students Union Government (SUG) award as the best lecturer of the academic year (2012/2013) on Igbariam Campus for the third consecutive year, having won the award in 2011 and 2012.
Earlier in his speech, the Chancellor of ANSU, His Royal Majesty, Gen. Felix Mujakperuo (rtd.) said he would be making available the sum of N1 million every year, beginning from 2014, to be distributed to persons selected in four outstanding positions during his tenure.
He explained that the Best Lecturer of the Academic year would receive the N200,000, the Best Graduating Student (N400,000), the Best Graduating Student in the Faculty of Law (N200,000), and the Best Non-Academic Staff for the Academic Session (N200,000).
Speaking to newsmen after the award presentation, Dr. Nwabueze expressed gratitude to the chancellor and the school management for finding him worthy to receive the award.
He promised to put in more effort and commitment to his work in order not to disappoint those who selected him for the award.
It would be recalled that Dr. Nwabueze was in 2000 bestowed with the Sports Writer of the Year award by Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Enugu State Chapter, and the Reporter of the Year by the defunct National Post newspaper, the same year.
