Dappa Biriye’s Annual Soccer Cup Contest Starts, April
The President General
of League of Character Club of Nigeria, Christian Kokoriko has said that the 20th edition of Chief Harold Dappa Biriye Annual Soccer Cup competition among clubsides in the South-South starts April 2014 at various centres.
Kokoriko also said that this year’s edition tagged “Dappa Biriye 2014” is being organised by Character Club in conjunction with its patron, Eze Chamberlin Moses Igwe III, pointing out that the grand finale is expected to hold in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
He explained that the competition is aimed at promoting peaceful co-existence among youths in the zone.
According to him, President Goodluck Jonathan would be the special guest of honour while state governors of South-South zone would be guests of honour.
Kokoriko however appealed to youths willing to participate in the competition to collect the forms at 37 Gambia Street, Port Harcourt, adding that the competition has produced players like the Super Eagles Captain, Joseph Yobo and Chidi Odia among others.
He further used the opportunity to congratulate the new Sports Minister, Hon Tamuno Danagogo and lauded the Eze Igwe for promoting grassroots sports development in the country.
