Dame Amaechi Gives Delivery Packs To Expectant Mothers

State Governor, Dame Judith Amaechi, has  donated delivery packs to 80 expectant mothers across the 23 Local Government Areas of the  State.
Making the presentation on behalf of Dame Amaechi at an event to mark this year’s International  Women’s Day,   the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Joeba West, said the donation was part of Mrs. Amaechi’s programmes to alleviate  the suffering of women.
She charged women to be prayerful and appealed to them to avail themselves  of the opportunity the state of free media programme affords and visit the health centres for their health needs.
The event,  which featured, free  medical checkup for pregnant  women, talks  on the them: Equality for Women is Progress for All: Inspiring Change, held on Saturday March 8, 2014 at the Government. House’s  Banquet  Hall and organised by the Ministry  of Women Affairs.
In her paper,  Inspiring Change in Women’s Health, Dr. Lawretta Onyekwere, charged women on behavior change, saying, “our attitude  towards our health  has to change before we can be inspired to make changes and improve.”
Dr Onyekwere said to be in good health “it is imperative that  a woman evaluates her health on the basis of her ability to carry out her daily routine.”
She noted that there are enormous benefits to be achieved when a concerted effort is made towards making  charge in health behaviours.
According to her, “women who are healthy are more at ease  within themselves, they tend to be more confident  and  self-assured, they are physically, mentally socially and  emotionally prepared  for what lies ahead.
Other speakers include, Pastor Scholar Odede, who spoke on Women and Morality and Dr. Carmelita Agborubere on Women and Effective Management of funds.
