APC Fasts For Minister’s Emergence As PDP Candidate
The All Progressives
Congress (APC), Rivers State Chapter, says it has declared a week of fasting and prayers for the emergence of the Supervising Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the governorship election in the state.
The party in a statement in Port Harcourt, said it was aware of the opposition of some camps in the PDP to the choice of Wike, but appealed to them to sheathe their swords and support Wike’s candidature if they are really interested in saving the State from the influence of PDP in 2015.
The statement signed by the Media Assistant to the Interim Chairman of the APC, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, said the emergence of Wike as the PDP’s governorship flagbearer would help to “formally dismantle and bury PDP as a political party in Rivers State”.
APC therefore appealed to all its members and lovers of democracy in the state to join in the one week fasting and prayer session.
The fasting and prayer, according to the statement, started last Tuesday and will end on 1st April, 2014 at the APC secretariat.
The Tide learnt that the Interim Chairman of the party, Ibianu Ikenya, the party woman leader, Mrs Carol Nagbo and other party men and women are expected to conduct the end of the fasting.
