The Interim Chairman of
the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, has urged party members in the state to remain united and committed to the vision and manifesto of the party.
Chief Ikanya who gave the advice in Port Harcourt  during a meeting with some stakeholders of the party, assured that the party manifesto when unveiled would benefit the Niger Delta region and Rivers State in particular.
The APC’s manifesto, designed as a ‘Roadmap to a New Nigeria,’ was  unveiled at the party’s national summit in Abuja last Thursday.
The roadmap detailed the party’s priorities in fixing the widespread failings of successive People Democratic Party (PDP) governments since 1999, and provided alternative measures that would bring hope and succour to Nigerians.
The APC boss, however, frowned at the recent leadership tussle that engulfed the party in Andoni Local Government Area during the last membership registration exercise in the area, saying the leadership of the party in the state was vested only in the state  governor, Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
He warned members to  avoid any disagreement that could lead to the failure of the party during the 2015 general elections in the state.
Also speaking at the meeting, the interim chairman of the party in Andoni Local Government Area, Chief Clifford Njah, assured the party leaders that the differences that arose during the registration of party members in the area had been resolved.
He also assured the party leaders that the APC had taken over the whole of Andoni from the PDP.
Earlier, the Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Sir Orom Nte Ereforokuma, had commended the state APC chairman, for the success of the party’s membership registration exercise in the state despite alleged attempts by the PDP to distrupt the exercise.
The council boss pledged his administration’s commitment towards ensuring the success of the party in the area during the 2015 general election.
