Amunike Commences Screening For New Eaglets

The screening exercise
of new players for the Nigeria Under-17 National Team has commences in Abuja last week.
Arrangements were made by the Nigeria Football Federation for the smooth take off of the usual grueling exercise at the practice pitch of the NFF/FIFA Goal Project Site. Team Administrator of the Golden Eaglets, Tayo Egbaiyelo, informed that players would be called up in batches in order to create an enabling environment for the Emmanuel Amunike-led coaching crew to properly access the players.
Amunike, speaking ahead of the exercise revealed that he has combed the nooks and crannies of the country in the last one month to fish out some raw talents.
The first batch of 35 players were due in camp last Wednesday and the screening to commenced  following. More than 4000 players took part in a similar exercise before the last U-17 team was assembled by Manu Garba who has now taken charge of the Flying Eagles (U-20 team).
The 2015 CAF U-17 Championship will be held in Niger Republic. The Golden Eaglets are already drawn bye into the second round of the CAN Cadet ( Championship by CAF.
They will thus meet the winner of the First Round tie between Burundi and Congo DR with the first leg scheduled for July 18-20 while the reverse fixture will be held between August 1-3.
Nigeria is the reigning U-17 World champions, having won the title for a record fourth time in the United Arab Emirates last year.
