Accused Pleads Guilty To Stealing Charge
An accused person
standing trial over an alleged stealing offence before a Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court has pleaded guilty of the charge brought against him on charge sheet number pmc/386/2014.
The accused, Preye 45, was arraigned on one court charge of stealing before Chief Magistrate Ipalibo .F. Iyiabo.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Wilson Iyiabo told the court that the accused person on the 27th day of February, 2014 at Mile One Police Station, in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District did steal a Brain Box valued one hundred and forty thousand Naira (140,000.00) property of one Uche Ibahabuchi.
The police prosecutor further averred that the accused committed an offence punishable under section 390 (9) of the criminal laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.
The acaused person however, pleaded guilty when the charge was read to him by the Court Registrar and pleaded the court to tamper justice with mercy.
Ruling on the matter, the presiding Chief Magistrate, Ipalibo F. Iyiabo remanded the accused person in prison custody and adjourned the matter to March 19, 2014 for the prosecution to file the details of the case.
