250 Get Free Treatment In Port Harcourt

Harcourt, District 9140, Nigeria, has given free medical care to 250  persons  in Oroworukwo community, Port Harcourt in Rivers State.
Speaking at the one-day Free Medical Outreach of the club, the President, Rotarian Chidi Ikeji said  the programme  was in fulfillment of one of the six cardinal services of the club.
Ikeji said quality healthcare was at the heart of Rotary saying that the club would strive to ensure quality health care to the communities where they operate.
He noted that Rotary was involved in several healthcare programmes including ensuring  the global  eradication of polio myelitis, stating that the club is one of the highest  donors in the fight  against polio-myelitis.
He commended the Federal Government for its commitment to  the elimination of  the disease  adding that  “Rotary has the resources and would continue to fight diseases and provide  quality healthcare to improve the quality of life of the populace”.
Co-ordinator of the programme, Rotarian Patrick Ohia said the free medical Outreach  was a yearly community service project of the club, and lamented that people were not conscious of their  health.
“People are not health conscious, they do not attend hospital. Be health conscious, regularly see a doctor’s, follow the doctors advise and take your prescribed medication”, he advised.
