20 Arraigned For Breach Of Peace

Over twenty persons
have been arraigned before a Port Harcourt Senior Magistrate Court presided over by Daisy N. Wanjoku for alleged breach of public peace with charge sheet number PMC/361c/2014.
The accused persons are charged on one court charge of breaching of peace before D. N. Wanjoku.
The police prosecutor Sgt Ikosi Omanoye told the court that the accused on the 22nd day of February, 2014 at Kira junction, Sapkenma junction and Nonwa junction Tai off East/West road, in the Port Harcourt Magisterial district did conduct themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by blocking the highway and seizing goods from members of the public without authorization.
The police prosecutor averred that the accused persons committed an offence punishable under section 249(1) of the criminal code cap 37 Vol. 11 laws of Rivers State 1999.
Ruling on the matter, the presiding Senior Magistrate, Daisy N. Wanjoku granted the accused persons bail in the sun of N50,000 with one surety in like sum. The surety shall submit two passports, swore affidavit of means and the prosecutor to verify the residence of the surety.
