‘We Supported Farmers In AELGA In 2012’
A former councillor
from Andoni, Rivers State, Hon Renner Solomon Mbaba, has said that the council assisted some communities in the state that were affected by the 2012 flooding.
The flood which ravaged farmlands across the affected LGAs in the State were assisted by the Andoni Local Government Area.
According to Mbaba, the council also assisted the farmers in both cash and kind to alleviate the suffering of farmers in the area.
He further explained that the council worked with NEMA in ensuring that those communities not affected got assistance from Andoni Local Government Area.
According to him, Andoni was not affected by the flood due to the nature of their terraim.
Andoni due to our topography and more than that, we have tidal current so the essence of flooding was not noticed,” he said.
He said he was aware that the Andoni LGA boss visited his AELGA counterpart, Hon Kassidy Ikegbidi with cash donation to assist farmers in the area.
I know he gave financial and moral assistance to the Ahoada East LGA chairman, Kassidy Ikegbidi” he said.
